Not even a year since launching, and Bristol grime imprint DeeOh7 are well on their way to establishing themselves as a fixture in the scene. Latest drop ‘D.P.M.O’ proves to be no exception, as the full team combine on record for the first time ever. Label co-founders Slowie & $H The Producer have been regular collaborators from day one, most recently on April’s heart-wrenching single ‘What Ya Know About?’, but this time they bring the crew’s newest member Firee Young along for the ride too. Whilst he may be new to the DeeOh7 fold, Firee & $H go back years, with the latter having produced some standout moments on Firee’s most recent solo project ‘Decades Deep’. ‘D.P.M.O’ sees Slowie & Firee Young trade punchline heavy and disrespectful bars, walking a fine line between humour and outright menace which regular DeeOh7 listeners will be familiar with, as they break down some of their pet hates and triggers – warning listeners “don’t p*ss me off”. As ever, $H The Producer provides the perfect foil for the vocalists, with a typically dark synth driven beat with his trademark soulful twist coming in the form of subtle yet haunting vocal stabs. Another essential & unashamedly grimy release from this exciting collective.
