Just a handful of releases deep, new Bristol label DeeOh7 is marking its ground with a quick-fire release schedule of dark, soulful grime of the highest order.

For the imprint’s fourth instalment, producer CA$TLE links with North London’s Tintz on ‘Shift’, twisting together a spooked-out, bass-heavy 145bpm drill-influenced rhythm with a relentless flow of bars set loose with just the right amount of aggression.

Brick-solid drums and system-breaking bass set and maintain the tone, with a fat selection box of smart samples and slick sonic flourishes quietly nodding to CA$TLE’s genre-melding style as a DJ and producer.

Tintz takes his moment on the mic with measured ferocity, scorching his way across the track with a defiant ode to his daily life and struggle which, like everything Tintz does, is a proud declaration and celebration of his own blackness.

With plenty more productions lined up from CA$TLE, and Tintz now making his decades long work on the mic come good, this won’t be the last you hear of these two - or DeeOh7 - in 2021 and beyond.

Any chance of Side by Side the vocal mix on Bandcamp, please sir? They only place I have that is on Youtubes and it has really bad sound quality.
